About

The Meaning of "AniBroad"

AniBroad is a social voting website for bloggers and readers that enjoy and consume the culture of Japanese entertainment. Meaning "Anime Broadcast", our goal is to provide bloggers an extra tool on the web in promoting their content. Basically, the site "broadcasts" (like submitting an article to Digg or Reddit) the content for others to see. If the others enjoy the content, they have the choice to vote on it. The popular the broadcast is, the more attention it will receive.

How AniBroad All Started

It all began by Sanjo of the CEN.TAKU.ME blog. It was an idea come to life after finding that there are not enough sites that cater to Japan culture bloggers. Even in places where all kinds of content could be posted, it was either buried or quietly removed due to "possible disinterest" of being a fad niche. Originally launched into beta in 2010, AniBroad started as topsite project, known as "Operation: Wave". written from scratch in PHP. Having little experience in PHP, it didn't hurt to dive into it some more. Even when the language was fully understood, it just didn't work. In 2011, the AniBroad project was put on hold due to a rewrite in Ruby on Rails.

In 2012, the AniBroad project is officially reborn in Rails. It is still a work in progress. With the help of users in mind, it won't be for long...
